Chapter one

A young man
who fell in love
with light.

3 Cultures
Stories
1 Camera

French-Japanese, born in Osaka, living in Saigon. I photograph people — their stories, their faces, the light around them.

My name is Joseph Takeshi Codron. I grew up between two worlds — the quiet streets of Osaka and the electric life of Saigon, where I now live.

I grew up on stories. My father told them in French, my grandmother in Japanese, and the streets told their own. Somewhere along the way, I picked up a camera — and realised photography is just another way to listen.

I love people. I love life. The way a stranger's face can carry the whole world in one unguarded second — that's what I'm always looking for.

Where I learned what alive feels like. Saigon is chaos and warmth and motorbikes at 6am. It's where I do most of my work — and where the streets talk back if you're paying attention.

Where I first learned what stillness looks like. Osaka taught me patience — the way morning light hits old stone, the way a shopkeeper's face tells a century in three seconds.

Chapter two

I photograph
the human
in everyone.

Presence

A session starts before I lift the camera. I spend time with you first. The best portraits happen when you forget the camera is there.

Story

Every shoot has a narrative. I think about where you are in your life and let that guide everything — the light, the location, the pace.

Honesty

I don't over-edit. I find what's already there and make sure you can see it. A good photograph shouldn't need explaining.

I'm not looking for the perfect shot. I'm looking for the true one.

Common questions
Yes — anywhere in Vietnam, and happy to travel further. Hanoi, Da Nang, Hội An or beyond, just get in touch.
Natural and warm, slightly film-influenced. I preserve skin tones and keep contrast intentional. I don't over-retouch — I want you to look like yourself, just beautifully lit.
5 business days for most sessions, with a sneak peek within 48 hours. Larger events may take up to 10 days.
Nobody is "not photogenic" — that's a myth. My job is to put you at ease and find your light. Every person I've photographed has walked away surprised by themselves.
Absolutely. Bring your ideas — the stranger the better. My favourites: old staircases, market alleys, anywhere with beautiful morning light.
